An Indian doctor in war-torn Ukraine has been in a basement at home with a helpless Black Panther and a Jaguar. He brought both of these animals from the Kiyv Zoo. He has lived for six years in a small town in the Donbas region of Eastern Ukraine. With the heavy attacks and blasts around the Kyiv zoo, the animal became helpless and isolated. Some animals were rescued and evacuated. But some were left alone.
Mr. Girikumar Palit is an Indian doctor who is single and kept those two animals under his protection. He is coming out of the basement only to find food for these two big cats. Jaguar is a male and only 20 months old. Black Panther is a cute cub that is Six months.
Mr. Girikumar had to buy food for these cats from neighboring villages at prices four times higher than regular. But he never gives up this hard job if it is difficult. His two friends panther and Jaguar have been spending several days in the basement with him. He said that the cats are scared of the sounds of bomb blasts and rockets. And they eat very little. Therefore he cannot leave them.
He said” I am the only Indian out here. I am Alone in the neighborhood. Most of the neighbors have moved to other places. Even though my parents who are in Andra Pradesh India, are calling me to come home, I cannot go there leaving these cats alone”.
